In the cobbled streets of the old town, where the time is stopped and brings magic as nowhere else, you will find not only beautiful architecture and history… You will find happiness and joy! It is situated on three hills of Plovdiv – Nebet Tepe, Dzhambaz Tepe and Taksim Tepe. The architecture reserve brings the ancient spirit of the past.

Going uphill from the Dzhumaya on “Saborna”st., you will encounter a wide range of curios, inns, beautiful bulgarian old renaissance houses that preserved the spirit of the time, churches and temples, a beautiful amphitheater, wonderful walls, pagan temples, baths, aqueducts. Their splendor will impress you and you will never forget it.

There is the magnificent Roman Theater, which is one of the most valuable monuments of the rich archaeological heritage of Plovdiv and Bulgaria. Today it held a series of cultural events, such as Verdi Festival, The International Folklore Festival and many concerts and performances.

In The Old Town you will have the opportunity to see amazing excavations, ancient, medieval and renaissance monuments, museums and galleries with valuable exhibits, and many pictorial places. The biggest artists have worked in the museum houses. Many of them bear their names and present their works.

There you will see the fortress gate “Hisar point” which is very romantic and beautiful, which has existed since ancient times, and today it has become one of the symbols of the city. Below the street are foundations, dating from Roman times. The current type is determined somewhere in the Middle Ages of XII-XIV century.

If you happend to be there in the summer, just breath the aroma of figs. It’s everywhere just like the history and spirit of Plovdiv. Take a walk on the stone pavements and look for Balabanov, Dan, Kuyumdzhiev houses lost in Georgiadi, the houses of Dr. Chomakov and Dr. Antoniadou. Get fammiliar with Lamartine, Nedkovich, Hindliyan, the Yellow School, Ethnographic and History Museum. Or simply get lost in the reserve. You will be happy!
